DISTRACTED

Updated: Jul 16, 2018

How important is your full attention? There are instances where it’s very important: weddings, funerals, deep tearful conversations. We turn our phones on silent and put them away to be unchecked until the proper time. We reschedule our time entirely.

We are trained that in a world of multitasking and juggling a million balls, we should also be fully present.

It’s simply not possible to do both.

We can’t be extremely busy and involved in everything and at the same time be entirely present. Mentally, emotionally and even spiritually. Well, we can’t do it alone anyway.

When was the last time you just sat and enjoyed God’s presence? When was the last time you re-worked your schedule, put your phone on silent with no intention of checking it, all to sit and be with Him?

Maybe you did your “daily devo” bible reading and you can check that off of today’s to do list. That’s different. That’s religion. Not relationship. Sometimes even doing your daily devo adds another ball to juggle. It’s probably not surprising to hear that God doesn’t want to be another ball you’re juggling.

He is so much more than that!

He wants to be your peace, as you walk through chaos. He wants to be your light in the dark. The wind in your sail. The strength you miraculously had to get through the tasks and emotions of the day.

He wants to show you that He really is a God who keeps His promises and answers prayers. He wants to show you that you’re important to Him and that you have purpose.

He wants to prove to you that He is trustworthy.

He wants to be involved in your life. In your daily routine. In the busyness of your life He wants to show you He is with you. He wants you to remember to turn to Him when you need the strength, or you need His peace or you simply can’t remember something.

He wants to live this life with you and walk with you. He wants to be worthy of your time. The fact is we know that He is worthy of our time but we don’t act like it. Actions speak louder than words. You can know something and still not truly believe it.

Do you believe He is worth your time? Because if you truly did your actions would show it, right? You would be fully present with Him. You would invite Him into the monotonous. He desires that! The God of the universe cares where you left your keys!!! Just ask Him to help you remember! He wants to be involved in your life.

How weird would it be to have your mom follow you around all day and go wherever you go and the entire time you didn’t talk? Sooooo weird. But that’s what we do with our Father. What would it cost you to be fully present with Jesus?

"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalms 46:10

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
