The Creator of the universe knows you. As a matter of fact He is crazy about you. He actually knows your heart’s deepest desires more intricately than you do. He likes you. A lot. He is radically in love with you. He would lay down His life for you- and He did.
Hard to believe?
He knows all the things you’ve done well and all the things you’ve really missed it on. He knows how dark it’s gotten and He knows how light it can be. He created you. He formed you in your mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13) So yea... He knows you well!
I think what’s hard for us to believe isn’t that He knows us. But that He likes us. He tells us that we are no longer slaves but His children. He wants us to call Him Dad. If He didn’t like us, why would He want us to have such a personal relationship with Him? To call Him Father?
You’re important to Him. So important. You may not think so but it’s true.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Basically the world really sucked and became a super dark place because when Adam and Eve ate from the tree that God told them not to, they allowed all the ugly into the good world God had created. So the world became a sinful dark place and we became sinners. We chose wrong. But God. He had a plan to redeem it and make it right. Jesus paid the penalty that we should have had to pay for our sin. See He was sin-free and through His death we could be brought back to unity with God. Back to the way He created us originally. Good. Righteous.
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4
Love isn’t love unless we choose it. God didn’t create us to be loveless robots. He created us to love and to be loved.
We are always longing for more. If only I had this, if only it were summer, if only I were fit, if only I had a nice car. If only. Have you ever said “if only” only to realize that the thing that followed actually didn’t fully satisfy you and now you’re longing for the next thing?
What does it mean to be content? Do we even know? God is offering this to us. He says come all who are weary and I will give them rest. (Matthew 11:28) He promises to keep those in perfect peace who’s mind is set on Him. (Isaiah 26:3)
We can hold Him to His word because He tells us who we are to Him and what He has for us.
“Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” Galatians 4:7
As we grow closer to God we realize more and more the truth of who He is and the truth of who we are. We are able to love Him because He first loved us and out of that place we can actually love others as we do ourselves because we know how much we are loved.
