Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16
When I read these verses, it brings me great comfort knowing that Jesus who is my advocate to the Father is the one who knows my weaknesses. Not just because He knows all things, but because HE KNOWS. He has chosen to become fully human to understand. Like, think about it, Jesus who is fully perfect and is seated at the right hand of God, knows when you are feeling worried or concerned. He understands the weight of this world more than any podcast, social media influencer, closest friend, spouse, you fill in the blank. He is the one who understands. Yes, He is perfect and on earth and did not act on sin, but He was faced with difficulties and hardships that ultimately was defeated on the cross.
If anyone understands, Jesus does.
How comforting is this, that we do not have to have the right answers or be perfect, but Jesus wants us to come with CONFIDENCE to the throne of grace.
That we can come and receive mercy and find grace in help in time of need. There are going to be times in our lives we may not understand why, or there may be times God is going to ask us the question, “Do you trust Me?” I can think of countless reasons why we can feel so fearful to not come to God when things are uncertain or just plainly hard. We wrestle with our flesh and the lies the enemy wants us to believe. “What if I am wrong? What if God will say no? What if…” The “what if” is what is keeping us from approaching with confidence to the throne of grace. Our flesh and the lies can keep us from believing that we can come boldly to Him. Grace means undeserved favor. But it is because of Jesus there is great comfort that yes, we can come to Jesus.
Whatever you may be going through today, do not let your fears keep you from coming with confidence to the throne of grace.
I encourage you to not come with your own agenda, what you may want, but to trust Him fully, in full surrender. Not only is He worthy to be praised, but He also cares so deeply for you.
